home sweet home

we live in a compound...which houses the church, a medical clinic, offices, the new boys living area, a carpenter's shop and a room where they sell product made by the women of the church. pastor shem and his wife sumi also live on site.

above is a picture of anya standing in the doorway to our living area. we have access to 3 rooms. we all sleep in the big room -that has been a big adjustment!! we share space with rats, ants and cockroaches - another big adjustment!

we live in community which has its ups and downs...they hear the tantrums of a frustrated four year old and the whining of others...mmm..not to mention any names. we are learning how to share with those in need and in return, to ask for help when needed. we share food, have afternoon tea, play cars with the boys, exchange stories, sing and dance in the courtyard under the stars.

Thanks for posting these photos, Elisa! It's nice to be able to picture where you live.

Wow, you guys. What an amazing experience and change of lifestyle you're going through. It makes one realize that the world is so open to possibilities and that adventure can be had if we only choose. I know it's not all easy for you guys, but you will remember it all forever and your girls will be so thankful for this time.

Good to see pictures of the 'old homestead'. I killed my first cockroach on that kitchen counter. Ahhh....memories. At least you're missing the -25 we're having here in the Peg. We're all praying for you guys. Blessings!

Ok...this puts a whole new spin on the term "roughing it"!!

Jason and I looked at the pictures, and he looked at me and said "Yvonne...you would just die there...wouldn't you?" I'd like to think that if I put my mind to it, I'd be okay....but I did have to shudder at the thought of rats. Your home in wpg will feel like a mansion when you get home! We are really so rich in the west....

I am so proud of you guys...and i keep thinking about how life-changing this will be for your girls too. What an adventure!

We are thinking of you, and love you guys.
